Pastel International implements Evolution for Rani Resorts

Rani Resorts is implementing Pastel Evolution across its resorts in Africa, enabling it to standardise its accounting and stock management software.

Rani Resorts is a tourism development company offering exclusive luxury resorts in some of the world’s most exotic locations including the islands of Mozambique, Zanzibar and the breathtaking Victoria Falls.

John McMillan, Rani Resorts MD, says the company is hoping to have the Pemba Resort in Mozambique live by the end of July.

“We have identified five sites including our head office in Johannesburg that we will roll out to initially,” he says.

Jeff Lewis, director of Pastel International, says Rani Resorts is a well established company in the leisure industry with multiple sites.

“Rani Resorts’ decision to implement Pastel Evolution shows Evolution’s ability to meet large companies’ accounting and business needs,” he says.

Previously, Rani Resorts was running a number of accounting and stock management systems. In some cases, McMillan says individual resorts were running separate accounting systems.

By implementing Pastel Evolution, Rani Resorts will now be able to standardise across the group, running Evolution in conjunction with its hotel management software.

“One of the key benefits of Evolution is that it interfaces with our hotel management system. Accounts, assets and stock including shampoo’s, towels, consumables etc, as well as inventory from our restaurants and bars, can now all be managed centrally from our head office,” McMillan says.

Backups will also be done at each site and sent through to head office on a weekly or daily basis and uploaded so all financial managers can analyse the productivity of each resort, he says.

In addition, Rani Resorts is also investigating Pastel Evolution’s new retail add on module. This Point-Of-Sale module provides functionality at cashiers, integrating seamlessly with the Evolution backend.

Once the head office and Pemba sites have been implemented, McMillan says Pastel Evolution will be rolled out to other sites like Indigo Bay in Mozambique, Stanley and Livingstone at Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.
